ScripNet employs a unique Point-of-Sale System (POS) which virtually eliminates the flow of paper from the pharmacy to the payor. This allows pharmacies to submit all billing automatically and electronically to ScripNet through the POS system. Data entry is performed once - at the pharmacy. ScripNet achieved 90% electronic submission in 2005.
In addition to eliminating the flow of paper claims, the POS system automatically screens for abusive claimants and misused classes of pharmaceuticals. If an injured worker is not in the POS System, or if the requested pharmaceuticals are part of a certain high-risk class of drugs, the dispensing pharmacist telephones ScripNet for further instructions and a prior authorization if appropriate.
